October 9, 2009 was supposed to be one of the most exciting and proudest moments in the life of IFMA Tulsa’s Ted Webb. Instead, Ted found himself lying in a hospital bed, recuperating from emergency surgery the week before. When IFMA President and CEO, David Brady, learned that Ted would not be able to travel to Orlando to receive his award, he immediately offered to travel to Tulsa when Ted was feeling better to present Ted with the award in person.
At the chapter’s November meeting, David was able to do just that. Getting ready to retire at the first of next year, David took time out of his busy schedule (including rescheduling a standing IFMA Board meeting), to fly to Tulsa for the day to visit with the chapter’s leaders and present Ted with the 2009 IFMA Distinguished Member award during the chapter’s monthly luncheon. A full house of 50 chapter members and their guests were in attendance, including Ted’s family and fellow employees of Mazzio’s Corp., were on hand to see Ted receive his award.
We are all proud of Ted and his efforts to further the facility management profession that have benefitted the IFMA Tulsa chapter, IFMA OSU student chapter and the IFMA International organization. A founding member of the Tulsa chapter in 1987, Ted has been active on the IFMA Tulsa Board of Directors from the very beginning and has served as the chapter’s President numerous time. Through Ted’s efforts, along with those of Pat Hanford (who accepted the award on Ted’s behalf in Orlando), the Oklahoma State University IFMA chapter was formed, along with the subsequent IFMA OSU scholarship program. In 2007, a $2000.00 scholarship was named in Ted’s honor and two deserving OSU students have received the scholarship to date. On behalf of all of us at IFMA Tulsa, we want to say congratulations and thanks, Ted, for all you do and for all you mean to the Tulsa chapter.
