The Sixth Annual IFMA Tulsa Chapter Golf Tournament was held at the White Hawk Golf Club on September 20, 2002. Once again, our tournament was a huge success thanks to the support of so many of our IFMA members and their companies. With the downturn in the economy, there was some initial concern as a number of companies had to opt out of a sponsorship.
However, with the help of the sponsorship committee and many others who were not even on the golf committee, we were able to attract a record number of companies to support this event.
The result of that support will be evident in the amount of money we will be able to contribute to the IFMA Foundation and to our adopted charity, The Little Lighthouse. Once all the funds are collected from the participants and sponsors, we expect to make donations to these two groups in the amount of $4,000.00. Jim Bodine, representing The Little Lighthouse, was able to attend as our guest and played with President, Kelli Bailey and her team. We presented Jim with a check for funds we had collected from last year?s tournament. As has become an annual highlight of our tournament, Jim gave an impassioned speech about the goals of The Little Lighthouse to provide education to those handicapped and learning disabled children who are not able to attend regular schools.
We had 28 teams participate in this year?s tournament. We continued the "Mystery Scramble" format where teams are "scrambled" at the end of the tournament and new teams are formed by a random draw. The food was great, the weather was superb and everyone seemed to have a great time. We were able to utilize White Hawk's new Clubhouse. Whereas we were out in the parking lot under a tent for a number of years, the Clubhouse was a welcome addition to the festivities.
