Cherokee Hills Golf Club was the site of the 12th annual IFMA Tulsa Golf Tournament. Twenty Five teams signed up this year to play in the tournament. The tournament was held once again on October 30th and the weather could not have been much better. Blue skies, temperatures in the mid-70’s and a slight wind
greeted the 100 golfers and dozens of volunteers that participated in this year’s fund raising event.
This year’s tournament featured a few new twists. The awards ceremony was held in the 7th floor Board Room in the Cherokee Hotel complex after the tournament. Following the awards ceremony, a hospitality suite was hosted by Jim’s Electric, Group 4, Symphony Tables and ISE in the Board Room. After the awards were given out, a number of door prizes were also handed out. We had some great door prizes this year including a $100.00 gift certificate to Mahogany’s, a digital photo frame, a putter and a DVD player which included a DVD of the movie, “21.” These were just a few of the door prizes given away to lucky attendees.
Another surprise at this year’s tournament was the appearance of Jason McElwain also known as J-Mac. Jason was in town for a book signing at Steve’s Sundry, Books and Magazines and a Meet and Greet for supporters of the Tulsa Autism Foundation. IFMA Tulsa member, Brian Bennett, was responsible for bringing Jason to town. J-Mac was accompanied by his father, David and his foursome included previous IFMA Tulsa golf tournament participants Matt Peake and Brady Carson.
This year’s tournament raised $500.00 in Mulligan sales for The Little Light House and $392.00 for the OSU student chapter. Overall proceeds from the tournament will benefit the OSU student chapter scholarship program, The Little Light House and will help fund the IFMA Tulsa chapter budget for coming year.
IFMA Tulsa would like to thank all of those companies that sponsored a tee, green, contest or beverage cart. IFMA Tulsa would especially like to thank our major sponsors, Workplace Resource, Pendergraph and ServiceMaster. Kudos also go out to our many volunteers and the IFMA Tulsa 2008 golf committee who worked so hard to make this year’s tournament a success.
