A record 44 IFMA Tulsa members attended this year’s Christmas party. Revived in 2001 by then chapter President, Brian Bennett, the IFMA Tulsa Christmas party has become an annual chapter get together that has proven to be a popular chapter event. This year’s event was no exception. Out of the 47 members who RSVP’d, only three were unable to attend.
One of those was Ted Webb who was at the hospital awaiting the birth of his first grandchild, Bailey Elizabeth Farr. Ted’s daughter is IFMA Tulsa member, Lindsay Farr. Lindsay works for Keith & Todd, a Tulsa commercial architectual and design firm. (See article on Bailey’s birth).
This year’s Christmas party was held at Te Kei’s II at the Riverwalk in Jenks. Program Chair, Mark Cohlmia, owner of Tropical Plant Design, was able to coordinate us taking over the main dining room at Te Kei’s through owner, Todd Kraemer. Like previous years, the Christmas party not only featured great food, but the ever popular “Dirty Sanata” gift exchange. Helping out Mark with purchasing a wide variety of gift certificates and assorted “spirits” were Stephanie Pugh, Ashley Fisher, Kelly DeBolt and Brian Bennett. From Wal-Mart to QuikTrip to Red Lobster to a variety of other businesses and restaurants, everyone went home with a gift valued at $25.00 or more. Thanks to a donation by Denise Thornton with ABM Janitorial Services, a gift certificate to Lone Star Steakhouse for $50.00 was also included in the gift giveaway.
A few new twists to this year’s festivities included a “Member of the Year” prize and a “white elephant” type gift. Steve Brady with The Williams Companies received a bottle of Boone’s Farm Strawberry Hill as the “Member of the Year.” Steve received the award for last being seen at the IFMA Tulsa meeting at the 2007 Christmas party. Phil Parrish with the Samson Investment Co. was the recipient of what turned out to be the white elephant gift. When Phil selected a gift he ended up with some Burger King gift certificates. At the end of the gift exchange, Phil was told that he got the gag gift and was then given a gift certificate to The Cheesecake Factory to go along with his Flame Broiled Whoppers.
Many thanks go to Program Chair, Mark Cohlmia for organizing a fun, entertaining event. Thanks also go to Todd Kramer with Te Kei’s 2 for hosting our group.
