This year’s golf tournament was held on October 26 for the first time at the Tulsa Country Club. This site turned out to be a popular choice as 32 teams turned out to play on a cool, overcast day. Some of the highlights of this year’s tournament (in addition to the golf course!) included our first ever, keg stations.
Group4/ISE/Symphony Tables, Lighting, Inc. and Kanbar Property Management sponsored the keg stations that were set up between the 1st and 18th holes, on the 6th hole (Halfway House) and the 13th hole. The Group 4/ISE/Symphony Table keg station proved to be a very popular spot. In addition to the keg, Workplace Resource employees, Tiffany Harper and Leighann McMillan, set up shop and handed out cigars.
Another popular addition to this year’s tournament was the opportunity to pre-pay for the various games on the golf course. This year’s games included a putting contest for the opportunity to putt for $2500.00, a Poker Run game where participants got 5 playing cards at different points on the golf course with the best hand winning a 50/50 pot, a Monopoly game where participants drew a card to win a prize or improve their score on that hole and a Multi Flag game and a Tiger Woods Long Drive, both designed to also improve a team’s score. The proceeds from the games benefit the IFMA OSU student chapter. Many thanks to the OSU students that traveled from Stillwater to Tulsa to volunteer for the tournament. Over $2000.00 was raised for the IFMA OSU student chapter.
For the second straight year we had a Hospitality event after the awards and door prizes were given out. Food included a roast beef carving station along with veggies and drinks included an open bar and a keg. No one went home hungry or thirsty. Thanks go out to our Hospitality Sponsors, Artisan Surface Systems/Wilson Building Maintenance, Metropolitan REI LLC, Simplex Grinnell and Western Waterproofing.
The winners of this year’s tournament where broken down into four flights based on team scores. The top team came from Awards Sponsor G4S Wackenhut (go figure) and consisted of David Lane, Brad Mitchell, Alan Grayson and Brian Mitchell. The next top team came from Corporate Hole Sponsor Imperial Coffee and consisted of Lance Whorton, Aaron Bushell, Charles Richardson and Mike Dougherty. The next team came from Corporate Hole Sponsor American Waste Control and consisted of Mike Self, Tom Hill, Tim Roberts and Todd Green. The last winning flight came from Golf Ball Sponsor Mac Systems and consisted of Brennen Carr, Eric Stehm, Kalab Coine and Chris Berg.
Contest winners included Frank McCarthy from the CB Richard Ellis team who won the Men’s Closest to the Pin, Cheryl Cooper from the TASC team who won the Women’s Longest Drive and Mark Gilliam from the mystery team who won the Men’s Longest Drive.
IFMA Tulsa would like to thank all who played in and sponsored our tournament. Proceeds from the tournament benefit The Little Light House, the IFMA OSU student chapter and the IFMA Tulsa chapter. Thanks again this year to The Little Light House’s JayDee Brumbaugh for coming out and handling the Mulligan sales. In addition to the yearly donation IFMA Tulsa makes to The Little Light House, they retain all the revenue from the Mulligan sales.
Thanks also go out to David Atkinson and the golf committee as well as volunteers Nancy Morgan, Denise Thornton and Craig Hime. Without you guys there would be no tournament.
