IFMA Tulsa’s June meeting took on a new look this year. Instead of a luncheon, we had an after hours event that featured Dave Roever. An inspirational speaker, Dave’s story is one of courage and survival. After being seriously injured by a phosphorous grenade during Vietnam, Dave shared how he fought back to recover and make a difference through the Dave Roever Foundation.
Dave’s visit was made possible by Bill Farr of First Maintenance who underwrote the cost of bringing Dave to town.
This month’s event was hosted by IFMA Tulsa members John Esposito and Kathy Hefley at the Espo Fire & Water hangar at the Jones Riverside Airport. In addtion to some great bar-be-que, attendees were able to see the airplane that Jon Esposito restored and was recently featured on the cover of Tulsa People Magazine. The large airplane hangar was a great venue to have the event as we had a record 73 members and guests attend.
Programs Chair Mark Cohlmia presented Dave with some gift certificates to a couple of Dave’s favorite local establishiments along with some Harley Davidson T-Shirts from the two local Harley dealerships. President Stephanie Pugh presented Dave with a check for a donation to the Roever Foundation.
Many thanks again to Bill Farr, John Esposito and Kathy Hefley for the generous donations they made to make this event possible.
